General Summary

Venture-backed, international mobile and web media company seeks a qualified candidate to lead user experience and design (UED) team. The company’s products are focused on interactive multi-media shows that can be created and shared on the web or via mobile devices. The Director of UED position will report to the chief product officer as part of the Product Engineering team.
Responsibilities
You will be primarily responsible for managing a team of creative professionals who are in charge of the overall user experience on multiple mobile clients, embeddable flash widgets, and websites. This includes information architecture, usability engineering, visual design, and overall user experience. In order to do this effectively, you will need to lead the team in developing a strategy and process for UI architecture & design, including wireframes, prototypes, usability testing and production of necessary assets for product development. Knowledge of PC, Internet, and mobile applications, interaction models and consumer behavior patterns is mandatory. Experience with media, user generated content, and social applications is a major plus.
You will work with product management, engineering, QA, marketing, business development, and the overall executive team on product features and creative elements for marketing communication. A key part of your job will be as an internal evangelist for user experience design and helping to prioritize product development tasks accordingly.
Experience/Skills
- Savvy designer with 7+ years in a UED capacity for consumer oriented technology products and services
- 3-5 years management experience
- Entrepreneurial self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment and seeks the challenge of rapidly changing marketplaces
- Proven ability to meet goals and consistently meet deadlines
- Results-oriented, self-motivated team player and a professional presence
- Strong communication and persuasion skills, both written and oral, balanced by a flexible demeanor and ability to sometimes put aside personal preference
- Outstanding quantitative/analytical skills and attention to detail
- Deep technical understanding of consumer technologies, including audio/video, mobile and Internet media
- Strong business, communications, project management and operational skills
Education
Required: BA/BS in Industrial Design, Human Factors, Interaction Design, Graphic Design and/or similar experience. Advanced degrees highly desirable.
