Why Kyte beta-launched in LA amidst Covid-19 outbreak

Since February, our prevailing message was “If you can stay home, please do so." However, in the past weeks since San Francisco has broadly gone into shelter in place , there’s been one group of workers that have been much discussed in the media, for which that is simply not an option - the essential workers.

“There isn’t a tele-burger, and there isn't a tele-Amazon either.”

While many firms, like Apple, Microsoft and Google, are enthusiastically following the advice, for more than 70% of workers, working from home is not an option. Only about 42 million of 144 million U.S. workers could do their jobs at home in 2018, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Millions of other Americans in fields like retail, transportation, logistics, food and other industries, can’t simply log on to Slack or Zoom to do her job and for those safe and reliable transportation options from the public and private sectors become increasingly scarce.

Just as public transit authorities in San Francisco, the LA Metro, and private transportation providers are forced to continue to scale back services amid the outbreak, Kyte started operating in Los Angeles to help. We’re proud to work with some of the largest hospitals and essential businesses in San Francisco and LA and offer safe and reliable alternative transportation during these times.

As always, we will continue to deliver our cars straight to the door. Now more than ever, our service is the best way to rent a car given that we can avoid all human interaction and unconditionally comply with social distancing measures. This means you receive a sanitized car at your desired address, which helps you to avoid shared transportation, crowded rental counter queues and unnecessary travel in the process.

What we’re doing in LA:

We’re discounting long term bookings up to 45% for immediate short term and for the month of April, we’re offering an additional LA-specific discount of 10% with the discount code LABETA10.
